Discover West Coast

The Irish landscape contains plenty of colours and shades. There might be a cloudy or rainy sky, but still with a little bit of sun, every stone and clump of grass starts to look like a magical object.

West of Ireland

You can start your journey from different places. I just landed in Dublin, where I’m taking a train to Westport Town (irishrail.ie). You can just sit down, relax and enjoy your journey. It goes very smoothly, especially when you grab some coffee, listen to some music on your headphones. Sometimes there might be a game of cards being played at your neighbour’s table, that you could join.

So here I am in Westport, It is a small town, but very vibrant, especially during the summer time. You can find here so many nice people. There are two Irish characteristics that can be noticed straight away. Irish Hospitality – céad míle fáilte –  which translates to one hundred thousands welcomes – most people seem to be happy and ready to have a chat or a bit of “Craic” (the Gaelic word for Fun). There are so many Coffee Shops and Pubs around, from where Lively Music can be heard. Those funky spots usually attract attention from both locals and tourists. You may meet someone who has lived here their whole life in some remote place or you can came across an adventurer who is ready to explore the region.

The West of Ireland is great for many reasons, for me is mainly because of the nature. The Views of the hills and the uncountable bays around the Coast are just stunning. There is always something new to discover. In Clew Bay there are 365 islands – one for each day of the year. Staring at the Atlantic Ocean, the sunset and the waves, the region makes you feel like you are heading to the edge of the World. You may even be lucky enough to see Whales, Seals, Dolphins or Basking Sharks. If you like peace and the possibility of rain doesn’t bother you, this place is just perfect for you.

There are so many events taking place in the region. Especially things associated with Croagh Patrick. It is very important spot for locals and a big attraction for many tourists, pilgrims and everyone who loves outdoor activities. Two annual events are Sea to Summit (sporting challenge) and the St.Patrick’s Day (parade). One interesting fact about the Croagh Patrick is that Gold was discovered on the mountain, but mining was prevented due to ecological and environmental reasons. Another interesting fact about the area is the Rolling Sun phenomenon that could be visible from the Boheh Stone – If the summit of the mountain is clear the sun can be observed setting on the peak and then appear to roll down the flank of the mountain.

I haven’t explored every spot in this region yet, but I can already see how amazing the West Coast is. In this short photo journal you can see places I’ve visited and how they have influenced on my art work.

“Just fly like a bird and you’ll notice so many shades of green – views there are amazing.”

This is a short aerial footage that contains images from the West Coast of Ireland, including beaches and selected places in the region.  More videos on my YouTube channel – here.

Inspiration comes from the Nature.

This is my Artwork representing very famous spot in the region, Holy Mountain – Croagh Patrick. It is a big attraction for many tourist, pilgrims and anyone who loves outdoor activities.

The biggest crowd is coming during St Patrick’s Day and Sea to Summit Competition… Would you like to check my Design? Click here.
